Upholstery Chair Repair – Part 1
What do I do if my fabric steamer left lines on my upholstery?
Help! I used a fabric steamer on my dining room chairs (the fabric part, of course) and it ended up leaving huge marks lining across the seat! How do I get rid of them, please? I would appreciate any and all suggestions!
Lines like dirt migrating to the surface? If so, I’d sponge the chairs with a peroxgen bleach like hydrogen peroxide, then blot with a clean, dry bathtowel (thoroughly!) and then cover the chair seat with another dry towel and allow to dry. With luck, the grime wicking up from the chair seat will wick into the towel instead of remaining on the surface.
The same thing happens if you get a carpet too wet while shampooing it… the yuck from within the padding migrates to the surface and leaves a brown haze.
FWIW, dining room chairs are typically a cinch to reupholster. And cheap to do, too.
