How do I connect my keyboard to Sonar 7???
I`m a newbie please help me out….
I have all the hardwares needed.
and I wanna use the internal sound card in my laptop.
How can I set it up in sonar?
Do I have to use Synth Rack?
If I`m using the internal sound card, do I still need an audio?
What should input output chanel bank of a midi chanel look like?
Well.. there is no one shot simple answer to this.. it depends.. in order for you to use your laptop’s internal sound card, that sound card must be capable of recording 24bit/96khz audio.. if not.. you would need to purchase an external soundcard made for recording into a lap top.. chances are if your laptop was not specifically designed to record music / audio… then you likely will need an external soundcard.. for laptops I recommend the e-mu interface.. for the cost vs the quality, it’s a pretty good deal and I love the patch mix software that comes with it. now… once you do get setup to record then it’s real easy to use a keyboard with sonar.. you can do this one of two ways depending on what inputs you have at your disposal.. the most effective way to record your keyboard is midi if you get a soundcard with midi inputs and outputs then you can connect your keyboard that way, which will enable you to use / record the synthesisers in sonar.. basically you are telling your pc what notes to make the synth play.. so in doing so the actual sound / or insturment is generated by the software and the keyboard is stictly telling sonar the notes and how they are to be arranged as you record yourself playing the keyboard.. now another way is to record direct audio with a standard quarter inch instrument cable.. that is the same as recording a mic, or guitar, or other instrument.. then the sound is generated by the keyboard.. not the software.. well this should help, but there are many more details that I couldn’t describe in one answer.. email me at mr-roush@hotmail.com if you need further assistance.. good luck..
