It is time to play musical furniture! There is no rule that states a piece of furniture must stay in one place or one room all year round. I think it is a much better idea to make full use of your tables and cabinets and move them to the locations in which you need them as the seasons change. Here is just one possible arrangement you can do with buffet cabinets.
Winter. Cold, snowy weather means that you need to pull out all the winter clothing. Hats, scarves, and gloves are essential before you walk out the door but, every morning that you are already running late, someone is missing their left glove, their earmuffs, or their pink hat. In order to avoid this situation, place your cabinet in the hallway and designate a drawer or section for each person. The first thing they do when they walk in the door is take off their hats, mittens, scarves, etc. and place them in their section. This plan will prevent many last-minute searches in the future!
Spring. Once the snow thaws and you no longer need to keep all the winter accessories handy, move the buffet cabinet out of the hallway and into the room closest to the backyard. It will now become your gardening center. Place the packets of seeds inside, your work gloves, and a few other essential items so that they stay organized when you need them!
Summer. Now that you have all the vegetables, fruit, and flowers planted, it is time to prepare the house for the sunny months of summertime. Since the kids are out of school, they will have more time to spend playing games. Place the buffet sideboard in your living room and stock it with cards, board games, videos and more. This convenient location will help them find the items they need right away so that they do not need to whine about not knowing where Monopoly is.
Fall. Buffet cabinets now make their way into the dining room. The months between September and December see the most dining room activity. Not only do you have two very large family dinners, you also host several smaller dinner parties and meetings. A dining room cabinet in this room allows you store napkins, napkin rings, candles, and placemats so that you can set a table quickly and easily.
If these uses all sound great but you do not like the idea of musical furniture, then go out and purchase multiple cabinets for your home!
